Starting in 2025, the EThICS-EU program will be financially supported by the Lesmüller Foundation for the next three years. The title of the project is  „Analysis of the lifecycle of a pharmaceutical ingredient: From German manufacture to global generic drug in the case of Rosuvastatin“.

The goals of the project were focused on supply shortages in pharmacies, particularly with regard to generic drugs. Despite recent regulations, such as the German „ALBVVG“, these problems persist.

By analysing the causes of supply shortages, the additional efforts required of pharmacies in managing them, and by developing policy recommendations to improve pharmaceutical supply chain resilience and reduce financial strain on pharmacies, Professor Dr. Holzgrabe aimed to address these challenges.

The Lesmüller Foundation aims to promote pharmaceutical science and research, with a focus on pharmaceutical ingredients and the role of pharmacists in society (Lesmüller-Stiftung).

For their interdisciplinary research initiative, the EThICS-EU project received their prize of €25,000, which is one of the largest private prizes for research in Germany, in 2023. Specifically, the prize recognized research into „Time-to-survive in case of supply disruptions“. The foundation particularly honoured the societal relevance of the project.

The Vogel Foundation supports projects in the fields of education, research & science, medicine and culture in the region around the city of Würzburg (Home – Vogel Stiftung Dr. Eckernkamp).
